Conquer Your Fears, Achieve Your Dreams: 3 Tips for Entrepreneurs

You have BIG goals! Maybe you want to impact the Glens Falls and Queensbury region - make waves in all of Warren County - or perhaps you dream of making a global impact!

Is a fear of making mistakes holding you back from pursuing your big goals? You’re not alone. Fear is meant to protect us from danger. But it can also stand in the way of our success.

No one can reduce fear completely, but you can learn not to let it hold you back. Use these tips to make fear work for you instead of against you.

1. Give it a name.
We don’t like to admit our fears. But often, acknowledging our fear is worse than the fear itself. All entrepreneurs experience fear and once we give it a name we take away its power. The fear dissipates and we can see opportunities more clearly. So next time fear is keeping you from stepping out of your comfort zone, label it and ask “what is the worst - and best that can happen?”

2. Use it as a guide.
Recognize that some things are out of your control and be willing to act through fear. Embrace failure as an inevitable part of the learning process to help us learn and grow.

Sure, it feels uncomfortable, but you can use fear to guide you toward success. Once you decide that fear won’t hold you back anymore, examine the situation based on facts, not fearful assumptions. And then use them to prepare for success

3. You don’t have to go it alone!
Fear can hold us hostage. If you work from home alone, spending time around others where advice and encouragement flow freely is more important than ever.

We are not alone in our fears. So surround yourself with people to push you beyond your fears - and your acts of courage will inspire them, too!
